Installing Hot Player

Search for Hot Player in the app store on your device: the Samsung or LG TV store, the Microsoft Store on Windows, the Mac App Store, or Google Play on Android. Install it, then open it to log in. If you cannot find it on an older Smart TV, message us on WhatsApp for the current install method for your model.

Logging In

1. Open the app and accept the Terms of Use.
2. Select "Login with Xtream Codes API".
3. Enter any playlist name, then your username, password, and server URL.
4. Tap "Add User" and your channels load automatically.

M3U URL vs. Xtream Codes: Which Connection Type to Use

Hot Player supports two ways of loading a subscription: an M3U URL (a single link pointing to a playlist file) and Xtream Codes API login (a server address plus a username and password). Both connect to the same underlying service, but Xtream Codes typically loads faster and gives the app more structured data, which is why it usually produces a cleaner category layout and more reliable EPG matching.

M3U URLs work fine and are useful if you're moving between apps that don't support Xtream Codes login screens, but if your provider gives you both options, Xtream Codes is generally the better default. Whichever method you use, the login screen only stores the connection details locally on that device — you'll need to re-enter them separately on every other device you install the app on.

Getting the Electronic Program Guide (EPG) Working

The EPG is the scrollable program schedule that shows what's airing now and later on each channel. In Hot Player, EPG data loads separately from the channel list itself, so it's normal for channels to appear before the guide populates — this can take anywhere from a few seconds to a couple of minutes depending on how many channels are in the playlist.

If the guide stays blank, it's usually one of two things: the app hasn't finished its background sync yet, or the EPG source tied to your playlist hasn't refreshed. Closing and reopening the app forces a resync in most cases. If specific channels consistently show no schedule data while others work fine, that's typically a channel-to-guide mapping issue on the provider side rather than something wrong with the app itself.

Devices and Platforms Hot Player Runs On

Hot Player runs on Samsung Tizen TVs, LG webOS TVs, Windows, macOS, and Android phones, tablets, and TV boxes. The interface adapts to the device — a remote-based layout with large tiles on TVs, and a mouse or touch grid on computers, phones, and tablets — but the settings and login process are the same everywhere. Performance depends more on the hardware than on the app. Older Smart TVs and budget Android boxes with limited RAM are the most common source of lag or slow channel switching, since the app decodes video and renders the guide at the same time.

Fixing Buffering and Connection Errors

Most playback problems in Hot Player trace back to one of three things: local network bandwidth, the device's hardware decoder struggling with a stream's bitrate, or a temporary server-side hiccup unrelated to the app. Before assuming something is broken, it helps to isolate which one it is.

• Buffering that comes and goes: usually network congestion — try a wired connection or move closer to the router.
• "Connection failed" on launch: check that the date and time on your device are set correctly, since incorrect system time breaks the app's authentication handshake.
• Playback starts then freezes on specific channels: often a decoder mismatch — switching the app's video player setting between built-in and hardware-accelerated modes resolves this on many devices.

Multi-Device Use and Connection Limits

A single Hot Player login is tied to your subscription's simultaneous-stream allowance, not to a specific device or app installation. That means you can install the app on several devices — a phone, a Fire TV Stick, a smart TV — using the same credentials, but only as many of them can stream at the same time as your plan allows. Installing the app somewhere doesn't use up a connection; only active playback does.

If a device shows an error saying the maximum number of connections has been reached, it means another device logged into the same account is currently playing something. Closing the app on the idle device (rather than just backgrounding it) usually releases the connection within a few seconds.
