IPTV on a Computer

You can watch IPTV International on any Windows PC, Mac, or Linux machine. On Windows and Mac the simplest option is the free Hot Player app; on Linux, Kodi with an IPTV add-on is the practical choice. This guide covers both.

Windows & Mac: Hot Player (Recommended)

  1. Install Hot Player from the Microsoft Store (Windows) or the Mac App Store. If you cannot find it, message us on WhatsApp for the current link.
  2. Open it and choose Login with Xtream Codes API.
  3. Enter the username, password, and server URL we send you after purchase (or choose Add Playlist and paste the M3U link instead).
  4. Your channels, categories, VOD library, and TV guide load automatically.

Hot Player is free, gives you a proper Electronic Program Guide (EPG), channel logos, and category folders, and remembers your login so you do not re-enter it every session.

Linux: Kodi with an IPTV Add-On

Almost no dedicated IPTV apps officially support desktop Linux, so Kodi is the usual route:

  1. Install Kodi from your distribution's package manager (sudo apt install kodi on Ubuntu/Debian, sudo dnf install kodi on Fedora) or from kodi.tv.
  2. In Kodi, go to Add-ons > Download > PVR clients and install PVR IPTV Simple Client.
  3. Open its settings, set Location to "Remote Path (Internet address)", and paste your M3U playlist URL. Add the EPG URL in the same panel if we sent one.
  4. Enable the add-on and restart Kodi. Your channel list and guide appear under TV.

A browser-based web player is a lighter fallback if you only need to check a channel quickly — ask us for the link.

M3U URL vs. Xtream Codes: Which to Use

Your subscription comes with two ways to connect. Xtream Codes login (server URL + username + password) is the better default on a computer: it loads categorized channel lists, a VOD section, and a built-in program guide. An M3U playlist URL is a single link that works in almost any player, but usually loads channels as one flat list with no guide unless you add a separate EPG source. If your player has separate fields for server, username, and password, it wants Xtream Codes; if it only asks for a playlist URL, it wants M3U.

Getting the Program Guide (EPG) Working

The EPG is a separate data feed (usually XMLTV format) that maps show titles and times onto each channel. With an Xtream Codes login it normally loads automatically. With a plain M3U playlist you paste a separate EPG URL into the player's settings. A blank guide with working video is a data problem, not a playback problem — check the EPG source field first before assuming the app is faulty.

Fixing Buffering and No-Sound Issues on a Computer

Watching on Two Screens or Picture-in-Picture

Most computer players show one channel per window. To watch two at once, open a second instance of the app pointed at a different channel — performance is limited by your bandwidth and CPU, since two HD streams roughly double both. A dedicated IPTV app with a true multi-view layout (TiviMate on an Android TV box, for example) handles this more gracefully than a desktop player.

Is Watching IPTV on a Computer Legal?

The player software itself — Hot Player, Kodi, or any media player — is ordinary, legal software. What matters legally is the source of the content you stream into it. IPTV International sources its lineup through licensed distribution arrangements, so accessing your subscription on a computer is no different, legally, from using a dedicated app on a TV.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a cost to watch IPTV on a computer beyond my subscription?

No. Hot Player and Kodi are both free with no in-app purchases — you are only paying for the IPTV subscription that provides the channels.

Do I need the M3U link or the Xtream Codes login on a computer?

Either works. Xtream Codes (server URL, username, password) is the better default because it brings the program guide and categories automatically. If your player only accepts a playlist URL, use the M3U link — message us on WhatsApp if you were only sent one format and need the other.

Why does my stream keep buffering on my PC but not on my phone?

Usually a local issue: Wi-Fi on the computer versus a stronger connection elsewhere, another device saturating bandwidth, or a graphics driver that does not fully support the player's hardware-decoding mode. Try a wired connection and switch the player between hardware and software decoding to isolate it.

Can I run IPTV on an older or low-powered laptop?

Yes for standard-definition and most HD channels. Heavy 4K/HEVC streams decoded in software will make an old laptop run hot and drop frames — lowering the stream quality in the app or using a wired connection helps.

What about a Chromebook?

On Chromebooks that support Android apps, install a player from Google Play. Where Linux (Crostini) is available, Kodi works. See our Chromebook guide for the details.
